Who should file this return:
- Taxpayers who would otherwise not be required to file because their gross income is less than the standard deduction.
- Taxpayers who receive social security or railroad benefits (SSA-1099 or RRB-1099) AND have qualifying children for dependents.
- Taxpayers with Social Security or Railroad Retirement benefits (SSA-1099 or RRB-1099) and whose spouse had no income and no SSA-1099 and no RRB-1099.
Who should not file this return:
- Anyone that has a normal IRS filing requirement. You cannot file an EIP return and a regular return
- Taxpayers who receive social security or railroad benefits (SSA-1099 or RRB-1099). The IRS has indicated they already have the information needed to send your economic impact payment.
